So coz I just spend alot of effort (and chipped fingernail) wrestling the Speck cover off my newly bought but not brand new macbook pro, I decided to take some photos in case I decide to wrap it back up again. =) If I put the casing back on, I’ll take more pics. Dumb me should have taken some before. oh well. The case is good protection but mildy bulkier.
2200 sgd for a second-hand 3mth old 15″ MBP
2.4 ghz Intel Core i5 with 2 cores, 4 virtual cores 256kb L2 Cache per core 3MB L3 Cache
15″ normal glossy screen.
the guy upgraded it to 8 gb of ram. 2 x 4gb DDR3 1056 MHz
and he also quite kindly put in at 640 gb Western Digital hard drive. 5400 rpm. apparently he would have put in a 1tb but the size wouldnt fit. still, lovely upgrades over stock 4gb ram and 320gb hard drive. can you imagine apple charges 600ish sgd for ram upgrade.
Intel HD Graphics + NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256mb : their auto switching technology
34 cycle count on the battery.
the guy also applied LCD protector, Moshi handguard, keyboard cover, Speck outer shell, a soft carrying case. much thanks to him coz I wouldnt have done so much for my own laptop. i think that’s about 250$ of overpriced accessories.
2688 + 250 + >100 per stick of ram + >100 for the hard drive = im sure he spent in the ballpark of 3250$.
backlit keyboard is so important for late night typing.
MagSafe connector is longish? i had thought it was the round stubby one. Not bad.
little slit for sleep light
surprised there’s a battery indicator. nice.
my not so humongous music library and my more humongous photo library has already filled up half the hard drive. oops. still 230gb to go. did i mention i want a 160gb SSD + 1tb HD combo… its possible, if you sacrifice the dvd drive.
did i buy it coz its pretty? no. coz Sony has some pretty stuff. HP Beats is actually pretty cool. and HP has some nice patterns. I just needed something faster than my old hackintosh to run Xcode and iOS emulator. and more lightroom. and i couldnt get Adobe CS to work properly on Windows, not that that’s adobe’s fault. and i need to move my life into my bedroom so that I can throw all my junk at one table so that I can control my mess. there.
no, the macbook air is too much of a weakling for my purposes. Lightroom + Photoshop + iTunes + IM + Chrome + Finder(s) can be somewhat taxing. especially with dual screens.
and voila. time to do some work on it.
great post and nice photos!
now i feel like getting one too =X
