Items required for endpoints:
– cat5e or cat6 cables, preferably of a resonable quality and brand. preferably use cat6 (not for the speeds) for the resistance to cross-talk and interference.
– wire stripper / cutter
– endpoint keystones
– faceplates and box (use one or two keystone per faceplate, 4 is too cramped)
– punching tool
– network switch or router
– network testing tool
Items required for patch cables:
– cat5e or cat6 cables
– crimping tool
– wire stripper / cutter
– RJ45 plugs
Take note of:
– where are you going to position the switch
– where are you going to position wireless access points
– thickness of casing required to hold many cables at certain sections
– try to avoid running with power lines
– rooms with only one line might require local switch to handle multiple devices
– use 568B wiring layout
