The End

have you ever wondered what lay at the end of the road? I mean real
physical roads. we often board a bus, a train, or turn into a road mid
journey, travel a distance, and take our leave or change to another
road. have you ever had a feeling like in the Matrix where Neo opens a
door into a corridor full if doors, endless identical unmarked doors.
have you wondered what lies at the end of the corridor? I mean, it
doesn’t have to be a paradise or pot of gold but it is after all The
End Of The Corridor. 11 or 12 years ago in Ender’s game, when he was
mighty young and little, he played a ‘Fantasy Game’ for young Battle
School recruits. it was a game to partly entertain them in their free
time, but also to secretly sikowanalize them. He played the game
incessantly at times, thrown himself in a worrying fervour at obstacles
designed to be insurmountable, especially when he missed his
sister badly and was tired of the system. The end of the game was
Giant’s Drink, this big giant which blocked the way and offered two
different drinks to the player. Both drinks killed the player. Always.
Most kids give up after some tries. This one went at it repeatedly,
pointlessly drinking and dying. one day he murdered the giant and got
past. Eventually he reaches a door marked The End Of The World.
without hesitation he opened the door and stepped through.
There are other interesting details surrounding this but it is too
long. perhaps another time.
I think this must be the book I read the most number of times. When
you read one thing too much it starts to become real, and I return to
this like a traumatic childhood episode that stays in the subconscious.
